From Marta gallery in Los Angeles, Motion in Field is a deep dive into the “extracurricular” output of contemporary artists. I’m Christopher Schreck - join me as I sit down with some of today’s most exciting practitioners to shed light on the circumstances, concepts, and techniques that have inspired them to step beyond their signature output and explore fascinating new terrains. 

In each episode, we’ll feature a single guest discussing the work they’ve produced for Marta’s Mezzanine series, which invites artists and designers to branch out from their established practices by incorporating previously unexplored methods, materialities, and means of presentation. Through the ensuing conversations, we’ll gain new insight into the processes and intentions of each practitioner, as we examine the unforeseen (and often illuminating) possibilities that arise when artists defy expectation, follow their intuitions, and embrace new ways of working.
